I'm a photographer from Ohio. I was a shy and quiet kid. Cameras were a perfect way for me to engage with the world because they gave me something to do around people other than fidget or pet their cats. After art college I became a schoolteacher and began working on personal photo projects, and becoming less awkward. My documentary work with extended family received attention and launched me into freelancing. My first photo job ever was for TIME Magazine. I've since worked for clients including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Elle, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and more.

I love remodeling homes, thrift stores, fluffy animals, rainbows, cheese (too much), and googling medical ailments to confirm nothing is wrong with me.
